THE MUSIC HAS ALWAYS BEEN PART OF THE STORY.

From a roller rink in 1979 to nightclubs, radio stations and dance floors across the country, music has been part of my life for nearly five decades. Retro Roadshow brings that experience together in a modern DJ service built around great music, professional sound and lighting, and one simple goal: making sure people have a great time.

WHERE IT STARTED — 1979

I started DJing at 13 years old at Skate America in Grove City, Ohio. What began behind the turntables at a roller rink would eventually grow into a career spanning nightclubs, radio stations, live broadcasts, private parties and events.

Those early years taught me something that has stayed with me ever since: being a DJ isn't just about playing songs. It's about reading the room, knowing what to play next and creating the kind of moments people remember.

THE NIGHTCLUB YEARS

By the early 1980s, DJing had moved from the skating rink to the nightclub. In 1983, I began working at Rainbows — later Coconut Beach Club — on the west side of Columbus. The 20,000-square-foot club became one of the area's most popular nightspots, and I spent five years there both behind the turntables and working with the club's sound, lighting and video systems.

That was the beginning of a nightclub career that would eventually include resident DJ positions at 12 clubs in Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

The nightclub years opened another door — radio. Beginning in 1988, I worked on-air at stations in Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Texas and Arkansas, eventually working in nearly every part of radio from on-air personality and Music Director to Production Director and morning-show host.

Radio sharpened another side of being a DJ: programming. Choosing the right song at the right time, understanding an audience and creating momentum became as important in a radio studio as it was on a dance floor.

DECADES OF EXPERIENCE. BUILT FOR TODAY.

Retro Roadshow brings decades of experience together with modern professional sound, lighting and DJ technology. But the equipment is only part of what makes a great event.

Knowing the music, reading the room and understanding when to change direction comes from years of working with real audiences. From the 70s, 80s and 90s to today's favorites, the goal is simple: play the right music at the right time and keep people having a great time.
